The Korean Federation of Teachers’ Associations (KFTA) and the Korean Ministry of Education will be co-organizing this year’s ACT+1 Convention either August or November (To be decided soon) at the-K
Hotel Seoul, Korea. This convention expects to have more than 500 participating educators, scholars
and policy makers from ASEAN countries.
Since KFTA joined the convention in 2009 and became the first non-ASEAN regular member in 2012, it is
timely for KFTA to organize the upcoming convention in Korea. KFTA would like to work more for the
advancement of ASEAN education.
The ACT+1 Convention, also known as ASEAN Council of Teachers, is held on an annual basis to
discuss and share ideas to develop teachers’ proficiency and global learning environment. The
convention is composed of teacher organizations from South Korea and nine ASEAN countries (Brunei,
Cambodia, Thailand, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam)

history and future perspectives of education in ASEAN countries and Korea as well as further build
