The Korean Federation of Teachers' Associations (KFTA) sent a letter of comforting words to China on May 22. The recent historical calamity of the massive earthquake brought a number of deaths and great economic loss in Sichuan, one of the most densely populated areas in China.
In the letter to the All China Federation of Trade Union, KFTA addressed that many people in Korea were deeply impressed by that Chinese teachers rescued their students in face of danger and have been teaching them in temporary buildings without any proper school buildings. KFTA also expressed the hope that China may overcome the aftermath of the earthquake and restore education services along with related facilities as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, KFTA has held the 'History Seminar for Peace Education Textbook' among South Korea, China, and Japan with the All China Federation of Trade Union and Japan Teachers' Union since 2006.
