The ‘4th Korea-Japan-China history seminar for peace education materials’ is held in Beijing, China from August 11th to 12th under the theme ‘How do We Teach Modern and Contemporary East Asian History?’. In this seminar, about 60 teachers from 4 organizations including ACFTU (All China Federation of Trade Unions), KTU (Korean Teachers and Education Workers’ Union), JTU (Japan Teachers’ Union) together with KFTA and ACFTU hosted.
Teaching case studies of 4 organizations are presented as follows.
▲ KFTA : Ernest Thomas Bethell (English journalist of Japanese Colonial Period) and Peace Education / Elementary School
▲ KTU : Peace Education during Art and Computer Classes / Junior High School
▲ JTU : Atomic Bombing and Peace Education / Junior High School
▲ ACFTU : Sex Slaves (during Japanese Colonial Period) and Peace Education / Junior High School
As the fieldwork program for seminar, 30 teachers from Korea and Japan visited ‘Marco Polo Bridge’ and ‘Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance against Japanese Aggression’.
The seminar which aims to understand the history of 3 neighborhood countries, to pursue the peace of Northeast Asia, and to establish a cooperation system on future-oriented history education was held by KFTA and JTU from 2003 and 3 countries including China has been participated since 2006.
Participants from the three countries presented demonstration lectures and had discussions, and on the final day the representatives of the KFTA and JTU visited historical spots in China.
