| <Donations for Kim Man-duk Rice Donation Campaign on the World Poverty Day>
To mark October 17th International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, KFTA (the Korean Federation of Teachers’ Associations) participated in 10 thousand-seom (a unit of volume, about 180 liters per seom) rice donation event hosted by Kim Man-duk Memorial Foundation. Attended by KFTA president, prime minister, unification minister and Seoul city mayor, the event was held at Seoul Gwanghwamoon square to deliver 20 thousand-seom of rice and cash donations which has collected from all sections of society since July to single-parent families, facilities for the disabled, food pantries, community welfare centers for children, the elderly living alone and overseas abandoned children.
The campaign was particularly marked by the participation of the education sector. Especially, KFTA made a commitment to social charity activities at its ‘Education Leaders Workshop’ in August and have actively participated in this campaign.
An official at Kim Man-duk Memorial Foundation said, "Thanks to the active participation of the education sector, we could raise 20 thousand seoms of rice, which is way over our original target of 10 thousand."
