A Joongang Daily Newspaper survey showed that the Korean Federation of Teachers’ Association is the most influential organization among educational organization and second most reliable organization among social organizations in Korea.
According to the August 15th article, the KFTA was ranked 12th in influence and 11th in reliability among all 24 Korean influential organizations on survey. Last year, the KFTA was ranked as 17th in influence and 16th in reliability.
KFTA spokesperson, Mr. Han Jae-Gap said, “The KFTA is somewhat in a difficult period because we are not absolutely in line with the current administration’s education principles or philosophy. However, public opinion shows that they are still on the side of the KFTA. The KFTA will work for education itself, suggesting a proper educational policy rather than just groundless opposition.
The KFTA showed this article to the EI members in the 5th EI Asia Pacific Regional Conference. EI Secretary General, Mr. Fred Van Leeuwen said that this was an encouraging development for other teachers’ organizations.
The survey is a poll of 1,550 people sponsored by the Joongang Daily Newspaper and East Asia Institute (http://www.eai.or.kr). The margin of error is ±4.3 percent at a 95-percent confidence level.
