This year the education budget of Korea is 35.340 trillion won (1 dollar=950 won) is a 13% increase from last year. This is 19.3% of the Korean national budget and a 18.9% increase compared to last year.
For the kindergarten, elementary and secondary education budget, 31.640 trillion won is allocated which is an increase of 15.5% from last year. Infant education supporting programs for after school classes are transferred to local authorities with no big changes in the scale of the budget. The higher education budget is 4.35 trillion won which increased by 17.7% compared to last year. The budget to improve university structures is approximately 70.5 billion won for promoting specialization and diversity programs of each university, introducing a law school system, and establishing unified system to provide educational data.
